Woman Accused In Harrison Township Vehicle Arson Arraigned

Deputies said the woman set a vehicle on fire Wednesday at the San Remo Apartments on Union Lake Road.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A 26-year-old woman has been accused of setting fire to her friend's vehicle Wednesday in Harrison Township, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said.

Sydney Parham, of Fraser, was arraigned in 41B District Court Friday on one count of third-degree arson — a felony.

Macomb County sheriff's deputies said they responded to calls regarding a an intentionally set vehicle fire at the San Remo Apartments on Union Lake Road around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

When deputies arrived, they said the vehicle, a black Jeep, was fully engulfed in flames. Harrison Township firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire, deputies said. Deputies said no one other than Parham was near the Jeep during the time of the fire.

Deputies said they spoke with several witnesses and were able to identify the Parham after obtaining video of the fire being set. Detectives said they located Parham leaving her home, pulled her over while she was in her vehicle and arrested her. Following the arrest, deputies said Parham was checked out medically and treated for minor cuts and burns.

Parham was given a $20,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court again at 11 a.m. Aug. 5.
