Dan Greenwell Named Service Person of the Year

DEARBORN, MI — Congrats are in order for Dan Greenwell, who was awarded the prestigious honor of 2016 Service Person of the Year by the Inter-Service Club Council of Dearborn at their annual awards lunch on Nov. 9 at Park Place. The Inter-Service Club Council of Dearborn is composed of representatives from 10 charitable organizations in Dearborn, who meet monthly to collaborate about ideas and activities to enrich the community.

Greenwell has devoted years of service to the Kiwanis Club of Dearborn Outer Drive, serving as the group’s treasurer for the past 11 years, and for the last two years as Peanut Chairman. Greenwell also volunteers in a litany of community endeavors, including Dearborn Safety Town, the Dictionary Project and Special Needs Bowling. You can even find Greenwell around town this time of year ringing the bell for holiday donations for the Salvation Army.

In addition to his work with the Kiwanis Club, Greenwell also is a dedicated volunteer with AARP. He leads the Dearborn Senior Tax Services, helping file income taxes for seniors and low-income citizens.

Other Dearborn service organization members who were recognized for their exemplary service and nominated for this year's Inter-Service Club Council Service Person of the Year award were: Gary Wolas (Exchange Club of Dearborn), Vickie Lynn Perri (Fairlane Sunrise Rotary Club), Mary Lenart-Kirchoff (Garden Club of Dearborn), Linda Michalek (Kiwanis Club of Dearborn), Julie Walker (Dearborn Optimist Club), Darlene Schoolmaster (Dearborn Rotary Club) and Judy Monroe (American Association of University Women).
