Darany Aims To Restore Trust To Clerk's Office

Dearborn native George Darany was elected to the post earlier this month.

DEARBORN, MI — George Darany knows he has a busy job ahead as Dearborn’s new city clerk. As important as voter registration, elections and other duties are, the Dearborn native knows he must first restore trust to the office that was rocked by the conviction of predecessor Kathleen Buda on embezzlement charges, according to a Press and Guide report.

“One of my jobs is to reaffirm that you can elect people to office that have integrity and will do the job,” Darany said. “The big role for me is to reinstall that trust in public servants. People have said to me that they trust I will go to the clerk’s office and make things right again. That’s a big part of my responsibility.”
“It is my hope that my many years of public service, not only as elected state representative and council member, but in Rotary, Goodfellows and other volunteer efforts, will put residents at ease knowing the office is being directed by someone they know and who has earned their trust,” he said. “The previous clerk’s actions were unfortunate but, thankfully, very rare in the city’s history.”
