Dearborn Heights Man Charged In Mother's Murder: Prosecutors
Mohamed Ali Saad is charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Fatemah Ibrahim Saad, prosecutors said.
DEARBORN HEIGHTS — A 32-year-old Dearborn Heights man is accused of stabbing his mother to death and fleeing the state, according to prosecutors.
Mohamed Ali Saad is charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Fatemah Ibrahim Saad, 64, prosecutors said. Saad is in police custody in Bradley County, Tennessee. He has waived extradition and will likely be transported back to Michigan next week, prosecutors said.
"Clearly, acts of domestic violence abound in Wayne County during nonpandemic times," Wayne County Kym Worthy said Tuesday. "The alleged facts in this case illustrate the potential for domestic violence in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic. As I stated last week, it is expected that because families are at home and together more than usual, incidents of family violence may be more prevalent. Please know that there is help available for families in crisis before these tragedies occur. Please seek that help."

Prosecutors said Dearborn Heights Police received a 911 call to a home in the 27000 block of Simone Street around 7 p.m. Thursday. Police found Fatemah Ibrahim Saad in the basement, suffering from stab wounds to the neck, prosecutors said.

Saad was arrested Saturday as a result of a coordinated effort by the Dearborn Heights Police Department, the U.S. Marshall's Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. He was charged on Sunday, according to prosecutors.
