Dearborn Heights Man Charged In Murder Of Stepbrother

A Dearborn Heights man is charged with the murder of his stepbrother after prosecutors said the two got into an argument.

DETROIT — A Dearborn Heights man has been charged with the murder of his stepbrother, Wayne County prosecutors said Thursday.

Jalen Gullatt, 21, was arraigned Thursday in 20th District Court on one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony firearm, according to prosecutors. Gullatt was remanded to the Wayne County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 3 for a probable cause conference, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, Gullatt on Jan. 17 was at a basketball game with his 23-year-old stepbrother, Jeffrey Steen, when the two got into an argument. The two continued arguing later in the day at their home in the 27090 block of Clairview in Dearborn Heights, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said the argument became physical before Gullatt shot his stepbrother with a handgun multiple times, killing him. Gullatt, prosecutors said, ran from the home.
