Dearborn Man Admits to $15,220 Neiman Marcus Theft: Police

A sales employee tipped off loss prevention officers after noticing the suspect appeared "extremely nervous," police say.

TROY, MI — A 25-year-old Dearborn man has been busted for reportedly fraudulently using someone else's credit card to buy more than $15,200 in merchandise from Neiman Marcus, according to police reports.

Police say the Dearborn suspect reportedly went to Neiman Marcus, located at 2705 W. Big Beaver Rd. in Troy, on three days in a row from Jan. 17 - Jan. 19. He completed purchases of $6,254, $4,679.90, and $4,287.70, according to the police report.

On day three - Jan. 19 - a sales employee noticed the suspect appeared 'extremely nervous' and alerted loss prevention officers, police say. The loss prevention officers realized the suspect was not the same person listed on the credit card used for the purchases, and upon being contacted, the credit account holder said no one was authorized to use his account.

Police say the suspect completed the purchase, only to be detained by loss prevention officers. Police report he admitted to his fraudulent theft of $15,221.60 in merchandise and was placed under arrest.
