Dearborn Man Charged In Animal Cruelty Case
Prosecutors have accused the man of smashing a box with a parakeet inside.
DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn man has been charged with third-degree animal killing after authorities said he killed a parakeet.
Ali Chehade, 22, is expected to be arraigned at 11 a.m. Thursday in 19th District Court.
Dearborn police were dispatched to a pet store in the 19300 block of Ecorse Road around 7 p.m. on May 18 in response to a complaint regarding animal cruelty, Wayne County prosecutors said Thursday.

When officers arrived, they reported that they saw a dead parakeet in a smashed cardboard box, prosecutors said. Prosecutors have accused Chehade of smashing the box with the bird inside with his fist and foot before running from the scene.
