Dearborn Police Officers And Firefighters Help Deserving Children Shop For Christmas Gifts
43 deserving children participated in the "Shop With A Hero" event.

DEARBORN, MI — 43 under-privileged Dearborn children are having a very merry Christmas thanks to the generosity of the Dearborn Police Department, Dearborn Fire Department, and Dearborn Walmart.
The children participated in a special "Shop With A Hero" night on Dec. 21 at the Dearborn Walmart, according to a press release. "Shop With A Hero" is an annual event where police officers and firefighters join forces to help deserving kids go on a shopping spree. Officers and firefighters were also on hand at the holly jolly night to wrap presents and help at check-out.
The police liaison officer to the Dearborn Public Schools, Cpl. Foyid Mockbil, worked with the school district to identify elementary-age students in need and the event was sponsored by the Dearborn Police Charities, the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive and a grant from the Walmart Foundation.

“These kids are so great," Dearborn Police Det. Mike Maurier, one of the organizers, said in a statement. "Many of them don’t think of themselves when they are shopping. We have to remind them to pick out some things they want for Christmas. They pay it forward.”
