Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Recognized by County, State

Brian Whiston was named Superintendent of the Year by the Michigan Association of School Administrators for his hard work, leadership, innovation, and collaborative efforts.

State Rep. George Darany and Wayne County Commissioner Gary Woronchak surprised Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Brian Whiston at the Jan. 13 Board of Education meeting, with presentations in recognition of Whiston recently being named Superintendent of the Year.

Whiston was named Superintendent of the Year by the Michigan Association of School Administrators for his hard work, leadership, innovation, and collaborative efforts, the district reported.

“Brian collaborates with others as he readily engages colleagues, staff, students, and parents in the learning process," wrote Board President Pam Adams in the nomination letter. "He is a great communicator who listens, guides and leads."

This school year is the sixth in which Whiston has been superintendent.
