Dearborn Schools Moving To All Online Class April 6-9

The district also is making arrangements so students who are 16 or older can get vaccinated in April.

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn Public Schools will return to school with virtual learning from April 6-9, the district announced Thursday.

Students will still attend live classes on April 6, 8 and 9, but the classes will be synchronous online learning events, the district said in its announcement. April 7 was already scheduled to be an online learning day.

“We will continue to place safety as a top priority, and with an abundance of caution we have decided to place all students on a virtual schedule for the week of April 6 to 9 following the spring break,” Superintendent Glenn Maleyko said.

Maleyko’s letter also discussed making arrangements so students who are 16 or older can get vaccinated in April. That age group becomes eligible for vaccinations in Michigan on Monday.

The district is hosting a free COVID rapid testing event at Edsel Ford High School from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. The state is running the testing site, which is open to the entire community.

“We still have some hurdles to face with the pandemic moving forward, and I encourage everyone to follow the COVID 19 safety protocols to help prevent the spread of the virus,” Maleyko said.
