Detroit Fringe Festival hosts Dearborn Writer, Collette Cullen!

Come and see the newest play written by Dearborn's own Collette Cullen, Recollecting '67: A Story of Race,Rebellion, and Reunion.

As part of the three day Detroit Fringe Festival, Dearborn writer and actor, Collette Cullen's newest play will debut this Saturday afternoon, November 17th, at 2:00 pm. The venue is at CMAP, 2221 Carpenter, Detroit (on the Hamtramck border). Collette is known for her one woman performances in her work Annie Speaks: Helen Keller's Teacher Tells Her Story and for other highly acclaimed works as part of the annual Dearborn Random Acts of Theatre .

The play, Recollecting '67, A Story of Race, Rebellion and Reunion, was written by Collette as part of the Detroit Fringe’s Professional Mentor Program, under the mentorship of Jeff Nahan. It takes place in July 1967. Two Detroit teenagers, Rosalina and Corrine’s carefree lives are forever altered as a result of the riot/rebellion they lived through. One of them is black and the other white. Orphaned to the lives they once knew, fifty years later they meet at a random reunion. There, the two-woman explore the impacts of race, rebellion in their lives, opportunities, and remarkably rekindle their love.
