Food, Music Highlight Romanian Festival in Dearborn Heights
Romanian favorites such as sarmale (stuffed cabbage) and mititei (grilled ground pork) will be served.

DEARBORN, MI - From the desk of Saints Peter & Paul Romanian Orthodox Church: Sts. Peter & Paul Romanian Orthodox Church will again host its annual Romanian American Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 10, 2:00 PM to 12 Midnight. Admission is free.
A local tradition for families since 2007, the public is invited to enjoy traditional Romanian foods made by the ladies of the parish while enjoying music and dancing provided by the Transilvania Band, known throughout the country for their traditional Romanian music, with soloist Bogdan Filimon.
Romanian favorites such as sarmale (stuffed cabbage), mititei (grilled ground pork), mamaliga cu branza (cornmeal & cheese souffle), ciorba de burta (tripe soup), tocana de ciuperci (vegetarian mushroom stew), scoverzi (plain or cheese filled doughnuts) and more will be on the menu at reasonable prices.
An assortment of Romanian wines, considered some of the best in Europe, will be available for the adults, as well as Timisoreana beer, imported from one of Romania’s oldest breweries. Guests can also quench their thirst with soft drinks or imported Romanian mineral water.
For dessert, a vast selection of delectable pastries, tortes and other treats will be featured at the bake sale.
A special performance of Romanian dances and songs, complete with various traditional Romanian costumes, will be offered at 6:00 PM and again at 8:00pm by the parish’s Romanian dance ensembles of adults “Grai Romanesc” (Romanian Voice), teens “Junii Romaniei” (Romanian Youth) and children “Mugurii Primaveri” (Springtime Blossoms).
Throughout the day, there will also be a bounce house and activities for children, as well as a souvenirs table offering Romania themed clothing and accessories in addition to religious books, icons and more.
The church is located at 750 N. Beech Daly Road, between Ford and Cherry Hill Roads, just down the street from the Dearborn Heights Spirit Festival also taking place this weekend. Parking is available in the church parking lot.
