Ford Motor Company Ends Ventilator Production: Report

DEARBORN, MI — Ford Motor Company is ending its production of ventilators after completing the delivery of 50,000 of the breathing machines amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to reports.

Bloomberg Law reported the company is returning the Michigan factory where the ventilators were produced to full-time auto-parts output.

The company's Rawsonville Components Plant was transformed in order to manufacture a third-party ventilator, in collaboration with GE Healthcare. Production began in April, the company said. Built by paid UAW volunteers, the goal was to produce 50,000 Model A-E ventilators by July 4 to help COVID-19 patients.

The automakers shipped its final ventilators Aug. 28, according to Bloomberg.
