Go on a Dearborn Business Scavenger Hunt

Here's a look at five things you can do on Election Day.

Today is Election Day! After heading to the polls to vote in the city primary, take a look at some other fun events going on around town.

1. Business Open House

Visit more than 30 chamber businesses for a fun family adventure. Raffles, gifts, coupons, samples and more will be available from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Receive a free prize ticket at each participating business to redeem at VanHouten Park for fun prizes for everyone. The participation fee is $10 per family and can be submitted to the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce. Online forms are available at http://www.dearbornchamber.org/.

The pass includes free family activities at Cherry Hill Lanes and Midway Entertainment, as well as hot dogs, chips, ice cream, and drinks at VanHouten Splash Park.

2. National Night Out

The Dearborn Police Department will participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m.

This year’s event will be held in the police department’s east parking lot, and will include free hot dogs, drinks and ice cream; a bounce house for children; free throw basketball contests with prizes; and the Dearborn Fire Department’s newest fire truck.

3. Don't forget to vote

The Dearborn city primary election will take place on Tuesday. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find out where your precinct is located, or to view a sample ballot, visit the Michigan Secretary of State website.

4. Free Soccer Clinic

Sacred Heart Parish will sponsor a free soccer clinic for junior varsity and varsity boys in grades 4 through 8. The clinic will take place on Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. at the O.L. Smith School. The clinic will focus on soccer formations and skills such as kicking, passing, dribbling and controlling the soccer ball. Contact Robert A. Shinske at 313-622-4463 to enroll or to seek more information.

5. Purchase Your Powerball Ticket

No one hit the Powerball jackpot on Saturday, so the current prize is $400 million. Get your ticket prior to Wednesday's drawing. The odds of matching all six numbers are 1 in 175.2 million.
