Hockeytown 5K Walk Alters Detroit Traffic Sunday

METRO DETROIT, MI — A pair of downtown Detroit events will affect traffic this weekend. On Sunday, the Hockeytown 5K walk will be held between Joe Louis Arena and Little Caesars Arena. As a result, Woodward will be completely closed between 5 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. from south of We. Grand/Mace Avenue to Jefferson.

The Lodge Freeway (M10) will also be closed on the southbound side from 5 -10:30 a.m. Sunday. Finally, the 5K will close southbound I-375 from Randolph to the Lodge Freeway during the same period.

The Detroit Lions will have their home opener Sunday at 1 p.m., meaning heavy traffic downtown. Here’s a closer look at all Michigan Department of Transportation projects for the weekend:

I-275
