After her car radio was stolen for the third time, Worthy decided not to get it replaced, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Worthy is normally on the other side of crime-fighting, as a prosecutor who wants to make life safer for residents, rather than as another statistic to drive down her belief that the the Wayne County prosecutor’s and sheriff’s offices are under-funded and ill-equipped to keep pace with current crime levels.

“There are 6,000 breaking and enterings reported in the city a year, approximately, and barely any of them percentage wise got to trial and it’s because police don’t respond to that, it’s a resource issue,” Worthy told Patch in an interview.

Maria Miller, Worthy’s spokeswoman, is unsure of when the thefts occurred but confirms that they did happen in Detroit while the vehicle was parked at Worthy’s home.
