Lecture: The History Of Islam In Dearborn
A University of Michigan expert will discuss the "remarkable growth" of the Muslim community.

DEARBORN, MI – Dr. Sally Howell, director of the Center for Arab American Studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, will present a lecture at 7 p.m. on Wednesday on the history of Islam in Dearborn. The lecture will take place at the Dearborn Historical Museum’s McFadden-Ross House at 915 S. Brady Street.
Howell will focus her talk on the 1920-1980s, when Muslims were a small minority in Dearborn. “I’ll also discuss the remarkable growth the Muslim community here has experienced since the 1970s and will discuss the many political and cultural factors which contributed to this ongoing phenomenon,” she said.
The lecture is free and open to the public; however, the museum accepts donations in support of programming. For more information, contact the museum at 313-565-3000.
