Man Arrested for Attempting to Cash Fraudulent Check
The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Detroit man who walked into Comerica Bank in Dearborn and tried to cash a counterfeit check was arrested on Oct. 17.
When the man handed the teller the check, the teller thought the check looked strange and ran it through a system used to identify bad checks, police said.
The system indicated the check, written in the amount of $1,576, was counterfeit.
The teller called the Chase Fraud Department who informed her that the account was flagged and that similar checks have been circulating on the account. Representatives at the company said the check was missing a known logo at the top left corner and failed a signature test.
Police booked the 21-year-old for allegedly uttering and publishing a counterfeited document with the intent to defraud the bank. A subsequent search of Michigan's Law Enforcement Information Network revealed a warrant out of Troy for shoplifting $5,000 of merchandise from a retail outlet.
