DEARBORN, MI — Police are turning to residents for help identifying and locating a man who threw an explosive into the Divine Child Church on Wednesday evening. The man is believed to be responsible for similar incidents in the city during recent weeks, police said.
Witnesses said the man walked in the chapel at 1055 N. Silvery Lane during prayers at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and threw a commercial grade firework, which burned a bible. No injuries were reported.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, between 30- and 40-years-old, with short, dark hair. After the attack, the man escaped in a newer model Cadillac with silver rims. It had sticker on the rear window and bumper.

The man “terrorized the parishioners inside a house of worship with a total disregard for their safety,” said Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad in a statement. “ I am confident based on the surveillance footage that someone will be able to identify the suspect or his vehicle.”
