Mayor, Council Seats Up For Grabs In Dearborn

DEARBORN, MI — Nov. 7 is an important day for Dearborn residents. Election Day 2017 will see voters decide on all seven city council seat and determine who will occupy the mayor’s office for the next four years.

A spirited race has been run for the top spot with John B. O’Reilly seeking a third term. Mayor Pro-Tem Tom Tafelski is challenging for the job after four terms on city council.

At least two new council members will be seat following the election. After six terms on council, Mark Shooshanian did not seek re-election.

Incumbents Robert Abraham, David Bazzy, Susan Dabaja, Brian O’Donnell and Michael Sareini are all seeking another term. Challengers include Nada Al-Hanooti, Fayrouz Bazzi, Eric Byrnes, Sharon Dulmage, Regan Ford, Sean Green, Ramez Haidar, Leslie Herrick and Ken Paris.
