Metro Detroit Weekend Weather Forecast: Warmer

Saturday should be dry and Sunday will likely see warmer temperatures.

After a week of getting pounded with snow, metropolitan Detroit can look forward to a break from the white stuff for most of the weekend. Temperatures are also expected to rise on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of the area got at least six inches of snow Wednesday, some spots as much as nine inches. On average, metropolitan Detroit gets about 45 inches of snow per season.

Here’s a look at the weather forecast for the weekend:

Friday Night: A chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. West wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday: A chance of snow showers before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. West northwest wind around 6 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. East wind around 6 mph.

Sunday: A chance of rain and snow showers after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 37. East southeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

On Monday, it will stay warm with a high of 39 degrees. But don’t expect to see a lot of sunshine, the National Weather Service says.
