Overcrowding Solution Sought For Edsel Ford, Dearborn High Schools

Dearborn Public Schools are considering three proposals that would shift attendance boundaries and put additions on several schools.

DEARBORN, MI — With overcrowding at Dearborn and Fordson high schools, the district’s board of education is mulling attendance boundary options. Trustees recently heard details of three different scenarios, all of which would require additions to Edsel Ford and Dearborn high schools, according to a Press and Guide report.

“Community meetings could be held from October into December, said Maysam Alie-Bazzi, executive director of human resources. Then the board could hold another special meeting about high school overcrowding in January to consider the feedback, she said.”
“Dearborn Schools might be able to pay for both high school additions without asking taxpayers for another bond, Executive Director of Business and Operations Thomas Wall told the board. The district can get up to $24.5 million in bonds without voter approval based on its state revenues, Wall said.”
