Recreation Announces Plans For Summer 2021

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Recreation hopes to offer a variety of fun and public health-informed amenities and events for all ages this summer.

Operations of all facilities and events are dependent upon public health conditions and State mandates, and are subject to change at any time. All information is accurate as of Wednesday, May 5.
Ford Community & Performing Arts Center The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., is happy to welcome passholders to use its fitness center, swimming pool, track and half-court basketball in the gymnasium. In addition, group exercise classes are taking place both in-person and virtually.

Strict health and safety protocols are in place for those visiting The Center. All individuals in the building must wear a mask over their mouth and nose at all times, except while swimming. Additionally, capacity limits are in effect.
The rock climbing wall, art gallery, babysitting room, hot tub, Summer Camp, playground program, and senior lounge are all closed due to public health concerns.
The Michael A. Guido Theater, located within The Center, will operate at a reduced capacity, and a Dearborn Youth Theater production of the Addams Family is planned for this summer. Please visit www.dearborntheater.com for more information.
Camp Dearborn Camp Dearborn, located in Milford, plans to be open this year for its typical camping experience as well as hosting several family-friendly, fun activities. These include the Friends of Camp Dearborn flea market, the Tin Can Tourist rally and the Battle of the Brits.
Various amenities such as the outdoor pool, canteen, non-motorized rentals and adventure golf are expected to be operational but may have modified hours.
The Eppinger Children’s Annual Fishing Derby has been canceled for 2021.

Pools Ford Woods pool is now open as of Memorial Day weekend, and will cost $4 for residents. Dunworth Pool is anticipated to open in early July, and will cost $5 for residents. Admission costs at these two pools for non-residents will be $10.
The City’s three neighborhood pools—Lapeer, Summer Stephens and Ten Eyck—are slated to open June 19 and will operate on a rotating basis. Admission fees for all three neighborhood pools will be $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents.
Residents may also purchase a 10-visit pass for any of the pools. The pass will be $40 for Dunworth, $30 for Ford Woods and $20 for the neighborhood pools.
Swim lessons will be conducted. Swim teams and synchronized swimming will likely not be offered this year.
Park and Picnic PermitsPicnic shelters, located in Ford Field, Hemlock, Crowley and Lapeer Parks, are available for rent this summer. All four shelters are roofed picnic areas equipped with electrical outlets and interior lighting. Restrooms are either included in each shelter or located within easy walking distance.
Hemlock Cabin, which can accommodate up to 40 people, is available for rental throughout the year. Rental rates are $60 per hour with a three-hour minimum required during the week, and a four-hour minimum on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
Picnic permits are available for sites at Crowley, Ford Field, Ford Woods, Levagood and Hemlock Parks.
Picnic and shelter permits in City parks may be obtained by visiting dearbornrecreationandparks.com or calling 313-943-2350. A deposit is required with all shelter rentals.
Golf Courses The Dearborn Hills and Mystic Creek golf courses will be open during the summer. Mystic Creek will be offering PGA Golf lessons. At both golf courses, corporate outings, fundraisers, family reunions, and team building events are permissible with social distancing protocols in place.
Senior Services Critical services to senior citizens are ongoing. These are Meals on Wheels, SMART Transportation and the distribution of liquid nutrition.
Several outdoor activities for seniors are planned for the summer, including picnics and teas in the park, and an Art in the Park team up with the Padzieski Art Gallery.
