The FBI Crime in the United States report released Monday shows the number of violent crimes reported to police in 2019.

DEARBORN, MI — More than 300 violent crimes were reported to police in Dearborn in 2019, according to the FBI Crime in the United States reported released Monday.

According to the report, Dearborn reported 305 violent crimes, which the FBI categorizes as crimes such assaults, murders, rapes and robberies.

Detroit led the nation in violent crimes reported per 100,000 people, with 1,965. Close behind Detroit was St. Louis, Missouri, Memphis, Tennessee, and Baltimore, Maryland.

The city had reported a total of 13,040 violent crimes.

Michigan as a whole saw 43,686 violent crimes reported in 2019. That number is a little over a 3 percent drop from 2018, when 45,176 violent crimes were reported.

In 2019, about 1.2 million violent crimes occurred nationwide, a decrease of 0.5 percent from the 2018 estimate, according to the data.
