Severe Thunderstorms Possible in Metro Detroit Monday

Here's what to expect for the rest of the week in Metro Detroit.

DETROIT, MI – Monday’s pleasant weather could give way to strong storms, the National Weather Service advises

The chance of severe thunderstorms is “marginal,” according to a hazardous weather outlook, but they could produce wind gusts of up to 60 mph and hail an inch in diameter.

The storms will track west to east at 35 mph.

Here’s the forecast for the rest of the week:

Monday night: A 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., then thunderstorms likely after 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. East southeast wind 6 to 9 mph. CNew rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of drizzle before 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Light north northeast wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Mostly cloudy overnight, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 38. North northeast wind 8 to 11 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 58, northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers overnight, with a low around 39.

Thursday: A 50 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon; mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59; partly cloudy overnight, with a low around 41.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61; a chance of showers overnight with a low around 44.

Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62.
