Woman in Handicap Spot Arrested on Handicap Parking Warrant

A Detroit woman parked illegally in a handicap spot at the Wal-Mart in Dearborn was arrested after a background check revealed a warrant for the same crime.

A Detroit woman was arrested Dec. 13 for an outstanding handicap parking warrant, after police caught her illegally parked in a handicap spot at the Wal-Mart on Mercury Drive in Dearborn.

Dearborn Police initially pulled up behind the 2003 black Chevrolet to check if it had a handicap marker or plate. The woman, 40, then got out of the vehicle to ask the officer to move out of the way, according to the report.

When police asked for her driver's license, she told the officer that she didn't have one and that the driver of the car was inside the store. She later admitted to officers that there was no one in the store and that she was the driver of the car.

A background check revealed that she had a misdemeanor arrest warrant for handicap parking. The vehicle was moved to a legal parking spot and the woman was arrested on the outstanding warrant.
