Axalta's Color of the Year Announced

Mobsteel, Sauve Art Foundation, and Lawrence Auto Body team up to create this year's epic hue

The Sauve Art Foundation and Axalta have come together for another spectacular color of the year reveal. With the help of James Chapman and Mike Lawrence of Lawrence Auto Body, John Sauve’s piece showcases SEAGLASS, kicking off the mission of “Conserving This Colorful Planet”.

Sauve, founder of the Sauve Art Foundation, has made it his mission to build communities through public art. His nonprofit institution sponsors public sculpture exhibits, film festivals, performances, and educational programs. The Man in the City exhibit can be seen on over one-hundred buildings throughout the city of Detroit, and displayed last years color of the year, SAHARA. Through these core values, the Sauve Art Foundation aligned with the mission of Mobsteel.

Mobsteel and the Sauve Art Foundation have partnered in bringing an automotive aspect to the foundations Detroit based projects for the last 20 years. Through a shared love for the city, organizations like the NSO, YMCA, and DHDC have benefitted from these joint charitable ventures.

This piece represents the organic nature of SEAGLASS, while connecting the passion for the city of Detroit’s Automotive industry.

The piece's debut will be at the Michigan Science Theatre, Saturday January 11th.
