Boy, 12, Dies In Highland Park Fire; Sister Escapes Blaze

Two children were home alone when the fire started on Monday morning.

HIGHLAND PARK, MI – A 12-year-old boy died in a Monday morning fire at a Connecticut Street home. The boy's 13-year-old sister was able to escape, according to a report in the Detroit News.

Firefighters from Highland Park, as well as Detroit and Hamtramck, responded to the fire reported at about 5:20 a.m. on Monday. The Detroit News reported that the children were apparently at home alone while their mother was at work when the fire broke out.
