DETROIT, MI — Cirque du Soleil will be heading to Caesars Arena in Detroit in 2020 with their new show "AXEL." Performing six shows from Jan. 2 to Jan. 5, buy tickets now to see this amazing performance that will leave your entire family spellbound.

"AXEL" is a new Cirque du Soleil sensation that combines acrobatics and ice skating with a fascinating array of visual effects and entrancing music. The story features Axel, a young graphic artist who falls in love with Lei. Audiences will be enthralled as the two set off on a fantastic adventure through colorful worlds on a quest to fulfill Axel’s destiny and discover his voice.

Founded in Quebec, Canada, Cirque du Soleil is one of the biggest and most successful theater productions in the world. They’ve been entertaining audiences since 1984, when founders and street performers Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix took their Quebecois based show of unique circus acts on the road.

After touring the U.S. in 1987 with the show “We Reinvent the Circus,” Cirque du Soleil left audiences stunned, selling out performance after performance. 1990 saw their first European tour, where Cirque du Soleil became an instant hit.

In 1993 the show “Mystere” took Las Vegas by storm, becoming Cirque du Soleil’s first permanent show, with performances still ongoing in 2019. Through the years, they’ve produced countless shows, each with their own story and theme. Costumes, music, and acrobatic acts are a new and different sensation for each show, capturing the hearts of fans both old and young.

Shows tour beneath the grand chapiteau, or “big top,” playing multiple performances. Shows sell out fast, with generations of the same family making it an annual event to see the latest Cirque du Soleil themed show.

"AXEL," which kicks off in Cornwall, Ontario, in October 2019, promises to be a unique experience that will leave audiences amazed.
