Crash Victim Loses Leg In I-96 Crash: Police

A driver lost control a car near Fullerton Avenue early Friday morning.

DETROIT, MI – A driver, traveling at a high rate of speed along Interstate 96, lost control of a car and crashed, reported the Michigan State Police on Friday. An occupant in the car suffered serious injuries, including an amputated leg, police said.

The crash happened at about 2 a.m., police said. The driver of the 2007 Chevrolet Impala was driving west on I-96 near Fullerton Avenue. As the driver tried to exit at Davison Avenue, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit an exit sign and guard rail.

The occupant who lost a leg is in serious but stable condition at a local hospital, police said.
