The Annual New Year's Eve Ball Drop Finds New Home At Beacon Park To Ring In The New Year

DETROIT, MI- Detroit's annual New Year's Eve celebration will be moving from Campus Martius to Beacon Park located at Grand River and Cass avenue.
DTE Energy's Motor City NYE presented by Quicken Loans, more commonly known as "The Drop" will be moving from their location to Beacon Park to be able to accommodate the 30,000 people that attend this event, according to event producer Regina Stocco.
"Beacon Park's energy and beauty will provide the ideal backdrop for ringing in the new year. "According to Nancy Moody, the vice president of Public Affairs for DTE Energy, that was said in a news release by event organizers.

The space will allow for easier road closures in directing traffic for the event, and will also allow the people who gather to the event; to watch The D Drop to surround the tower from all angles to get a view of the D drop.
The event that is now going on it's eighth year, has been steadily outgrowing the space in Campus Martius. Beacon Park offers an ideal setting to ringing in the new year.

The celebration will be held on Dec. 31 from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., and will feature two heated and carpeted party pavilions with musical performances, free activities and games.
