Damaging Winds, Flooding Possible In Metro Detroit This Weekend
The area could see up to 3 inches of rain by Sunday, with officials projecting the most rain Friday afternoon.
METRO DETROIT — Damaging winds and the potential for localized flooding is in the forecast for Metro Detroit this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Detroit.
A forecast issued around 5 a.m. Friday hinted at some severe weather Friday and Saturday, with the main hazard being damaging wind gusts.
"Showers and thunderstorms to expand over the area today and persist in episodes this weekend," the National Weather Service in Detroit tweeted. "Heavy rainfall may lead to some localized flooding with isolated severe weather also possible Friday and Saturday with damaging wind gusts the main hazard."

The forecast called for a slight risk of excessive rainfall and a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms. The heaviest rain is projected for Friday afternoon, according to the forecast, with up to 3 inches of rain possible by Sunday.
Heavy downpours could lead to ponding on roadways, officials warned, while causing low visibility in spots.
