Detroit Boy, 8, Died Of Opioids, Not Alcohol As Suspected
Police are now investigating how Jamere Arnold got his hands on the drug last summer.

DETROIT, MI – An 8-year-old boy, who died last July, died of fentanyl toxicity, ruled the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office. Police investigators now want to know how Jamere Arnold got his hands on the opioid, according to news report.
The cause of death ruling for Arnold was just made in the past few days, said a spokeswoman for the medical examiner's office. Initially, investigators thought the boy had died of alcohol consumption. The boy's death has been ruled "accidental," the spokeswoman said.
Police responded to the boy's home in the 19000-block of Conley Street on July 5, reported the Detroit News. The boy's family was trying to revive the child when emergency crews arrived.
