Detroit Elections: Voters Pick Council Reps, Police Commissioners
Voters in the Motor City will pick who will represent them in City Hall and in police wards.

DETROIT, MI – Voters across the city will pick not only who will be the city's mayor, but also who will represent them in city council chambers, who their district police commissioners will be, who will be city clerk, and a pair a medical marijuana ballot initiatives.

Issues:
Medical marijuana facilities ordinance – An amendment to the city code to provide for standards and procedures to license and regulate medical marijuana facilities through the Buildings, Safety Engineering, and Environmental Department and to impose conditions for operation and locational specifications for schools, public libraries, religious institutions, and other medical marihuana facilities.
Medical Marijuana Zoning Ordinance – The proposal would amend the Detroit Zoning code to establish land use standards and procedures for the regulation of medical marijuana facilities. The change would define and designate medical marijuana facilities, including growers, processors, provisioning centers, safety compliance facilities, and secure transporters, as permitted uses subject to site plan approval and use regulations in specified zoning districts, to require compliance with zoning district standards, and to authorize fees to the City.
