Detroit Roller Derby's Double Header Fit for a Pirate
There will be a 'Talk Like a Pirate' contest during half time. Tickets can be purchased online.

From Detroit Roller Derby: Argh you looking for a good time? Grab your friends and fellow buccaneers and head to Detroit's Masonic Temple on May 20th. "Talk Like a Pirate Day" is usually held in September but we are celebrating a few months earlier this year. Ahoy Matey! Detroit Roller Derby (DRD) has an exciting double header planned for you!
Detroit Men's Roller Derby will kick off the night's festivities when they play the International Superfriends. It's a coed team made up of skaters from Kalamazoo, Toronto and other nearby leagues. The hard hitting action will leave you on the edge of your plank. The all new Motor City Disasembly Line (MCDL), DRD's C-level travel team, will take on the Lansing Derby Vixens in the second bout. This will be MCDL's first game of the season. It will also serve as the Detroit debut for several new transfer skaters.
So dust off your bandanas and eye patches and get ready to cheer on some of your favorites in the Masonic's Drill Hall later this month. During half time, there will also be a "Talk Like a Pirate" contest. And shiver me timbers, trophies will be handed out to the best impressions.
Tickets for the Saturday, May 20th game are on sale now at www.brownpapertickets.com. They are $15 in advance and $18 the day of the event. Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult. Doors open at 5pm. The first whistle will blow at 6pm. The Masonic Temple is located at 500 Temple Street in Detroit. There is plenty of parking on site.
