DETROIT, MI — Major League Baseball's mantra for the 2020 season may as well be "better late than never," as the season that was supposed to begin in March was delayed until July due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After back-and-forth negotiations between ownership and the players association over how many games would be played, as well as figuring out safety guidelines, the league settled on a 60-game schedule. That schedule was released Monday, with the Detroit Tigers opening the campaign with a pair of regional foes.

Detroit's schedule begins July 24, on the road against the Cincinatti Reds. The Tigers will host Kansas City July 27 for their home opener at Comerica Park.
