Elton John's Farewell Tour Coming To Detroit

The Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famer still plans to record new music but says this will be his final extended appearance on the road.

DETROIT, MI – Elton John is bidding adieu to touring by performing 300 shows, including a final stop in Detroit. John will bring his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour to Little Caesars Arena on Oct. 21.

John, 70, is the third most successful Billboard Hot 100 artist of all time based on sales totals for music released between 1958 and 2015, ranking behind only the Beatles and Madonna. John told CNN's Anderson Cooper Wednesday that he decided to wrap up his live performing days with a massive three-year tour that will span five continents.
"I've been touring since I was 17 with various bands," John said. "I thought the time is right to say thank you to all my fans and say goodbye."

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 2. American Express presale begins Thursday through Jan. 29. For ticket information, go to EltonJohn.com.
