Ex-MSU Basketball Star Keith Appling Arrested In Shooting Case
Detroit police said over the weekend they were looking for the former basketball player in connection with a deadly shooting.

DETROIT — Keith Appling, a former basketball star at Michigan State University, was arrested in Chelsea on Monday in connection with a deadly shooting that took place on Detroit's west side over the weekend.
Appling was arrested around 10:30 a.m. Monday without incident in the 1500 block of Commerce Park Drive in Chelsea. A firearm was recovered during the arrest, police said in a news release.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Detroit police identified the 29-year-old Appling as a suspect in the shooting of a 66-year-old man on Saturday, which unfolded in the 13200 block of Whitcomb Street, according to a news release. The two men were in an argument that turned physical around 7:10 p.m., according to the release.

The victim was shot multiple times, police said. Appling fled the area near Schoolcraft and Greenfield Road a newer model tan Buick Regal, according to the release.
A relative's statements to police led to Appling being considered the suspect, according to reports.
