Explosion Levels Home On Detroit's West Side
An apparent gas leak caused the explosion of the home along Monica Street early Thursday.

DETROIT, MI—A west side home was leveled by an explosion caused by an apparent gas leak, according to media. No one was injured in the explosion, which was reported at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the 20000-block of Monica Street.
It took firefighters about two hours to extinguish the fire, according to a report by the Detroit News. One neighbor, though, said the explosion broke windows and blew open a door, the newspaper reported.
Keona Dalton, 29, lives next to the ruined house. She said she heard a boom, which sounded to her like a vehicle had run into her neighbor's home.
Dalton then saw that her front door had been forced open and that two front and side windows on her first floor had been broken.
