Funeral Set For Aretha Franklin

The funeral will be private, but fans will have a chance to say goodbye.

DETROIT, MI – A funeral for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, will be on Aug. 31 at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. The service, however, will be closed to family and friends.

Fans will get two chances to say goodbye. There will be public viewings, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 28 and 29 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Her body will be entombed at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit. Her father, the Rev. C.L. Franklin, as well as her sisters, a brother and a nephew are entombed there, as well.

Franklin, 76, died Thursday morning after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
