Heatwave Forces Detroit Schools To Close Early Monday

DETROIT, MI—The city schools here aren't messing with the heat: School officials have announced that they would go with a half-day school schedule for Monday. Administrators are citing the expected high heat coming today.

The announcement was posted on the Detroit Public Schools web page. "Near record early fall heat will continue through Monday with temperatures possibly ranging up to the mid 90s. As a precautionary measure the District is issuing an early dismissal for all DPSCD schools."
