Hit-Skip Driver Sought After Running Over Ecorse Woman

Sarah Diaz suffered 25 broken bones and a collapsed lung. Police are searching for the driver of a silver Jeep.

ECORSE, MI – Police continue to search for the driver who fled after hitting a 21-year-old woman as she crossed the street early Tuesday morning, reported Ecorse Police on Thursday. The woman, Sarah Diaz, remains hospitalized after the incident.

Detectives are looking for the driver of a silver Jeep, which may have front-end damage, said Sgt. Bill McCaig of the Ecorse Police Department. Police did not have a description of the driver, he told Patch on Thursday.

According to reports, Diaz was hit as she walked across High Street near Salliote Road after leaving her boyfriend’s home. She suffered 25 broken bones and a collapsed lung, and is in critical condition at Beaumont Hospital, according to a report by ClickOnDetroit.
