Kid Rock Donates Money From Fake Senate Campaign

Rock sent $122,000 from his "Kid Rock for US Senate" campaign to a Republican voter registration organization, according to a report.

DETROIT, MI – Kid Rock's Senate campaign turned out to be a lot of hot air, but there was some real money raised through the sale of campaign-themed merchandise. And, in December, he donated $122,000 of that money to a Republican leaning organization, according to a news report on Monday.

The pop star, who is an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, last year speculated that he would run against incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat from Lansing. The "Kid Rock For US Senate" slogan turned out to be a publicity stunt to promote his latest album, "Sweet Southern Sugar."

Campaign funds he raised selling T-shirts, buttons and other items was donated to CRNC Action, an organization for collegiate Republicans, reported The Detroit News. The newspaper confirmed the donation with both Kid Rock's publicist and the organization.

Before he announced the campaign was a sham, Common Cause, a watchdog organization, has asked the Federal Elections Commission to review the performer's campaign.

Common Cause's complaint said that while he had not formally declared his candidacy, Kid Rock already had a campaign website and is using a link to a Warner Bros. Records website to sell campaign T-shirts, yard signs, hats and bumper stickers, bearing the "KID ROCK FOR US SENATE" logo.
