“Success isn’t achieved overnight. It takes drive, focus, a burning desire in one’s soul and, sometimes, it’s about going with the flow,” said Courtney Smith, founder and CEO of Detroit Phoenix Center. “The three individuals featured have been an inspiration to so many of our youth and others over the years. This event is an opportunity for attendees to hear how they made their way to the top of their field, and then also to walk away with tools to push harder, listen intuitively and to know when to stand down and allow their talents to rise.”

Amy Andrews’s is an American journalist, anchor and reporter currently serving as the morning anchor on Fox 2 Detroit. Her path to TV journalism was very different when she embarked on her professional journey. For the first three years of college she dedicated herself to the pre-med route attending Indiana University. It wasn’t until her final year in college that she made a hard left and graduated from Oakland University with a communications degree. Andrews will speak about how she switched gears, followed her heart and found herself in the spotlight every weekday on FOX 2 Detroit.
Musician Polo Frost hit it big on YouTube five years ago with the song “Best Ever.” Just this year, the same song made a comeback, becoming a popular “challenge” on TikTok. To this day, he still doesn’t know how this song found its way back to the top, but what he does know is that he shows up every minute of every day to create, record and perform, seven days a week, 365 days a year. As he often echoes, “Showing up is half the battle.”
