Macomb County Jail Inmate Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The inmate has been in isolation since March 29.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — An inmate in the Macomb County Jail has tested positive for Coronavirus, police said Wednesday.

The inmate, whose identity has been not released, is the first inmate at the Macomb County Jail to test positive for the virus, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said in a press release. Officials added that they received the test results Wednesday, but that the inmate had been isolated since March 29.

"This is our first positive test in our facility and we have done our best to implement and add procedures that protect our staff and inmates from COVID-19," the press release states, "but unfortunately, no environment is immune."
