Man Convicted 6 Years Ago Of Manslaughter Gets Sentenced
Leroy Moon finally had his day in court – and will spend the next year in jail.

DETROIT, MI – Leroy Moon finally faced justice for a 2009 fatal shooting of another man outside his store. The 78-year-old will spend the next year in the Wayne County Jail.
Moon was convicted of manslaughter in the shooting death of Shawn Johnson at the Asian Fish Market in 2009, and pleaded no contest to the charge as part of a plea deal in 2011. But his sentencing got lost in a personnel shuffle after one assistant prosecutor that had been handling the case left prosecutor Kym Worthy's office.
Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway on Wednesday sentenced Moon to five years of probation with the first year to be served in the Wayne County Jail, per the plea bargain agreement, according to a statement from Worthy's office. He also was ordered to pay $9,141 in restitution, and will be allowed to leave the jail for work release and medical treatment.
