Michigan Foreclosures Jump In February: Data
The Great Lakes State's foreclosure rate, however, did drop from a year ago, according to the data released Thursday.

DETROIT, MI – Foreclosure filings across Michigan jumped 5 percent in February from January, according to data released Thursday. Even so, the number of filings in February was down from the prior year, according to figures released by the real estate research firm ATTOM Data. Across the nation, foreclosure filings in February decreased both over the past year and over the past month.
In Michigan, foreclosure activity was down 23 percent this past February when compared to February 2017. From January to February, filings jumped 5 percent. In February 2018, there were 1,540 foreclosure filings in the state, up from 1,467 in January. That was one foreclosure filing for every 2,951 properties in February.
And, while Michigan's foreclosure numbers may seem high, the state actually ranks No. 28 among the 50 states for its foreclosure rate. New Jersey has the highest foreclosure rate in the country.

Meanwhile, there were 381 foreclosure filings in Wayne County in February, according to the data. That's a 5 percent drop when compared to February 2017, when there were 399, but up 9.5 percent when compared to January 2018, when there were 348 filings.
In Oakland County, there were 192 foreclosure filings in February, up almost 18 percent from February 2017, when there were 163 filings, and an increase of more than 14 percent from January 2018, when there there were 168 filings, the data shows. In Macomb County, there were 212 foreclosure filings, up 2 percent from February 2017, when there were 208 filings, and increase of nearly 25 percent from January 2018, when there 170 filings.
