'Minor Defect' Detected At Fermi Nuclear Plant
The nuclear generator near the Ohio border ran at reduced power over the weekend.

NEWPORT, MI – A "suspected minor defect" has been detected at the DTE Energy's Fermi 2 nuclear power plant, according to a news report. A spokesman for the electric utility told the Monroe News that "the plant remains in a safe, stable condition."
DTE Energy operated the nuclear generator at reduced power from Friday, Dec. 29 until Monday to run tests and find the location of the potential problem, spokesman John Austerberry told the Monroe News. The possible defect was found during routine monitoring.
Corrections were made to ensure the nuclear generator's safe operation. The plant is at the western edge of Lake Erie in Monroe County, just north of the Ohio border.
