Most 'Sinful' States: Michigan Gets Low Marks For Jealousy, Anger

On the bright side, we are not greedy, says this new report.

We are a jealous bunch here in Michigan. And angry and hateful, too. Well, so says a new report from the financial website WalletHub.com, which ranked Michigan the eighth most sinful state.

For its overall rankings, the website factored in the biggest of sins. In addition to jealousy and anger and hatefulness, WalletHub also considered each states level of greed, lust, vanity, laziness, and excesses and vice. Michigan scored middle-of-the-pack marks for lust, vanity, and excesses and vice, and near the bottom for greed (we do watch out for each other.)

Florida was ranked the most sinful state, ranking first in jealousy, fourth in vanity and had other "high" marks. The least sinful state in the country is Vermont, according to the study, even though the state experiences the worst drug use.

New England and parts of the Midwest are noticeably less sinful than most of the country, as opposed to the south and west, which ranked consistently higher. Overall, the southern half of the country ranked higher than the north.

Lust was measured, among other factors, by the average time spent on adult entertainment websites and vanity was partly based on how many beauty salons exist per capita.
