What Metro Detroit Schools Are Doing This Fall: List
While some districts are still determining how they will return to school, several districts in the Metro Detroit area have already decided.
MICHIGAN — The"Back to School" season in Michigan is going to be a little different this year, with added stress to parents as well as district officials as they determine what the safest, most reasonable options are for returning students to school.
While some districts are still determining how they will approach returning to school, several school districts in the Metro Detroit area have already announced their plans for this fall.

Berkley School District — The Berkley School District will resume school online, until at least the end of the first marking period, Oct. 30.
Birmingham Public Schools — The district has yet to make an official announcement on its fall plans, but is working to decide between three options you can read more about here.
Bloomfield Hills Schools — The district will offer both in-person and virtual learning options.
Clawson Public Schools — The district has laid out both fully online and fully in-person learning plans for students, as well as some hybrid options.
Clintondale Community Schools — Will release a plan for reopening Tuesday, but will offer both remote and in-person plans.
Dearborn Public Schools — The district will be online until Oct. 1. In September, trustees will reevaluate conditions to see if things have improved enough to move toward allowing more students in schools.
Detroit Public Schools Community District — Detroit Public Schools are offering students the options of either online learning or in-person learning in the fall. The district is asking to hear from students and families on their learning preferences in a survey you an find here by Aug. 21.
Farmington Public Schools — The district will be discussing its fall plans Tuesday.
Grosse Pointe Public School System — After presenting online and hybrid formats to students, staff and parents, Grosse Pointe Public Schools decided to go back to school Sept. 8 completely online. The district said it plans on having a gradual plan for bringing students back to in-person learning.
Lake Orion Schools — The district is offering virtual and in-person instruction for when it begins Sept. 8.
Plymouth-Canton Community Schools — Students in the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools district will be beginning the 2020 school year learning virtually. The school board will officially vote on a plan at its Tuesday meeting.
Rochester Community Schools — Rochester Community Schools will begin the school year remotely, until Oct. 1 at the earliest. Students are scheduled to return to class Sept. 1, and the district intends on transitioning to in-person instruction when it is safer to do so.
Royal Oak - Royal Oak Schools — The district will start the school year fully remote for K-8 through the end of the first quarter, Nov. 6. District officials said they will determine if a return to the classrooms can occur after Nov. 6.
Troy School District — The Troy School District is offering two plans, one including in-person instruction and another featuring at-home learning. Additional community conversations are planned for Monday and Tuesday.
Utica Community Schools — The district is planning of in-person instruction Sept. 1, but will have plans to transition to virtual instruction if needed.
West Bloomfield School District — Students will be divided into groups that will attend classes in staggered schedules two days a week. All students will have virtual instruction on Wednesdays, while school buildings are cleaned.
